Good morning! And welcome back to book reviews about “The Pug Who Wanted to Be” book series! Today, we’re tackling the one about Peggy the Pug wanting to become a mermaid!
The Pumpkin one is a little outlier when it comes to the Pug Who Wanted to Be formula, but the Mermaid one is back on track with Peggy wanting to become something Chloe wants to make Chloe happy. In this one, Peggy’s family goes on a beach trip for summer holiday, and Chloe and Ruby want to see a real mermaid really bad. So Peggy does everything she can to make it happen! But of course, she runs into obstacles.
Like in the Reindeer one, there were some moments in this book that hold tension that keeps your attention. Peggy can’t swim, so reading about her getting caught up in the water currant and the waves of the ocean is genuinely frightening, even though I know the story is going to have a happy ending and know that Peggy is going to be rescued. Nothing too extreme that would be too upsetting for younger readers, but certainly makes you worried for Peggy’s safety!
So far, there isn’t a Peggy the Pug book I haven’t liked! I’ve got three more to read, so if you’re enjoying these reviews, you’re in luck!
